0 29

Now that Samsung is done launching the Galaxy S24, it will shift its focus to launching mid-range smartphones for the next few months. The company has already unveiled the Galaxy A15 5G and the Galaxy A25 5G with a new design language featuring the ‘Key Island‘ design. It might soon launch the Galaxy A35 and the Galaxy A55 next, and their designs have leaked through live images.

Galaxy A55 confirmed to feature triple-camera setup

Yesterday, the live image of the Galaxy A35 was revealed through a certification database. The live images of the Galaxy A55 have been revealed through TENAA’s certification database in China. The certification reveals the phone’s model number (SM-A5560), its overall design, RAM, storage, and connectivity features. According to that information, the Galaxy A55 will have a triple-camera setup on the rear, Samsung’s new ‘Key Island’ design language (can be seen on the right in the image below), flat sides, and curved corners. The phone has 8GB RAM, 256GB internal storage, a microSD card slot, and a dual-SIM card slot.

Galaxy A55 specifications and features

The Galaxy A55 will likely run Android 14 out of the box and get at least four major Android OS updates. Since the Galaxy S23 is limited to 25W fast charging, it is likely that the Galaxy A55 will also have the same upper ceiling for charging speeds. The upcoming mid-range smartphone uses the Exynos 1480 processor with the AMD RDNA 2-based Xclipse 530 GPU and an integrated 5G modem. According to previous reports, the Galaxy A55 will have an in-display fingerprint reader, a 50MP primary rear camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, a 5MP macro camera, and a 32MP selfie camera. The phone has GPS, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, USB Type-C port, and a 5,000mAh battery. It will also likely feature stereo speakers and an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance.

Another upgrade that the Galaxy A55 brings is a metal frame instead of plastic. It will be the first Galaxy A series phone in years to feature a metal frame, which is a great upgrade for a mid-range phone. If you can remember, the Galaxy Alpha was Samsung’s first Android smartphone with a metal frame. However, it wasn’t Samsung’s first phone to use metals. The Samsung SCH-500 (Satellite DMB phone) was the company’s first phone with metal (magnesium) plating on the front, and it was launched in 2006. The company’s first phone with a full metal design was the SOUL (SCH-W590), which was launched in 2008.

If you are thinking of waiting for the Galaxy A55, you can instead have a look at the Galaxy S23 FE, which is slightly costlier but brings a flagship-grade processor and a zoom camera.
