Samsung Galaxy Book 4 can use your phone’s camera as webcam

0 25

Samsung has unveiled several new devices, including new TVs, projectors, laptops, and home appliances, over the past few days, leading up to the CES 2024 expo that starts today. Although the company unveiled the Galaxy Book 4 series a few days ago, it has announced some new features for those laptops today. Samsung is collaborating with Microsoft to bring deeper integration of Galaxy smartphones to Galaxy Book laptops.

Galaxy Book 4 can use Galaxy smartphone’s camera as a webcam

The Galaxy Book 4 series can use a paired Galaxy smartphone’s camera as its webcam for higher quality when you need it. You can switch between the front and rear cameras of the smartphone. The Galaxy Book 4 has a pretty decent 2MP webcam, but when you absolutely need higher video quality, you can use a Galaxy phone’s camera. For example, you can showcase a product or a presentation that is not in front of the laptop’s webcam or placed at a different location where the laptop’s webcam can’t reach. It can also be used to showcase things with a higher image quality.

Samsung says that you can even use additional features like Auto-Framing and the Background Blur video effect when using your Galaxy phone’s camera as your Galaxy Book 4’s webcam. You can use this feature on any video conferencing app, including Microsoft Teams. This feature is similar to Apple’s Continuity Camera, which lets people use an iPhone’s camera with a MacBook (or any Mac).

Microsoft Copilot brings AI features to Galaxy phones

Samsung has also announced that Microsoft Copilot can now access messages from your phone and summarize them. That would be quite useful while planning a meetup with friends or a dinner with your partner. You can access links from messages, check them out on your laptop’s web browser, and find ratings for restaurants through Copilot. Microsoft Copilot can even create and send messages on your behalf.

Microsoft will soon bring integration with even more apps on your Galaxy smartphone, making you more productive when you are using your Galaxy Book series device.
