While other Samsung phones are slowly getting the Android 14-based feature-packed One UI 6.0 update, slightly older phones won’t get that update. The Galaxy S20 FE, for instance, is now getting the company’s latest security update to make the phone more secure and reliable.

Galaxy S20 FE 5G gets December 2023 security update in the US for carrier-locked units

The Galaxy S20 FE 5G is getting a new software update in the US. The carrier-locked version of the phone is getting the December 2023 security patch with firmware version G781USQSEHWK2. It brings fixes for around 75 security vulnerabilities discovered in the previous software version. It doesn’t bring any new features or performance improvements. The factory-unlocked version of the phone hasn’t received the update yet.

If you have a Galaxy S20 FE 5G that you purchased from a carrier on a contract, you can now check for the new software update. To do that, open the Settings app on your phone and navigate to Software update » Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our database and flash it manually.

Samsung launched the Galaxy S20 FE in late 2020 with Android 10 onboard. The device received the Android 11 update in late 2020, the Android 12 update in late 2021, and its last major software update was Android 13, which was released in late 2022. It won’t get the Android 14 update that is currently rolling out to newer phones.
