Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5, Fold 5 batteries will be easily replaceable

0 26

Samsung started making some changes to the internal design and packaging of its phones a couple of years ago so that they are more eco-friendly. With the Galaxy S23 series, Samsung made it easier to replace their batteries by using less glue and a pull tab. With its next-generation foldable phones, too, the South Korean firm is planning to bring similar improvements.

Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 batteries have a pull tab

The batteries of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 have now been certified by the South Korean safety certification authority (spotted by GalaxyClub). Images of those batteries have revealed their model numbers. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 will have two batteries with model numbers EB-BF731ABY and EB-BF732ABY. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be powered by a pair of batteries, too, with model numbers EB-BF946ABY and EB-BF947ABY.

As you can see in the images below, all four batteries have a pull tab on them, which makes them relatively easier to replace. All these batteries are being manufactured by Chinese firm ATL (Amperex Technology Limited) and not Samsung’s own battery manufacturing firm Samsung SDI.

The secondary battery of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 has a rated capacity of 971mAh. It is smaller than the Galaxy Z Flip 4’s secondary battery, which has a rated capacity of 1,040mAh. However, we can’t come to a conclusion if the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will have a combined lower capacity battery before looking at the capacity of the primary battery. Moreover, Samsung tested two sets of batteries for the Galaxy Z Flip 4 last year and ended up using a set with a higher capacity.

Samsung is moving toward more eco-friendly designs, materials, and procedures

Samsung has decided to make its products and the entire supply chain more environment-friendly. As a part of its large eco-friendly strategy, it is making a lot of accessories and phone parts using recyclable and PCM materials. It is also using sustainable energy sources and using extreme water filtration methods for its factories. It is also using eco-friendly and recyclable material for the packaging of its phones, tablets, TVs, and soundbars.
