Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 to come with a massive design change

0 30

We are less than six months away from the official unveiling of Samsung’s next-generation Galaxy Z series devices. The company is expected to announce the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 sometime in August or September of this year, but their features and design traits are already being revealed.

A new leak reveals more information about the Galaxy Z Flip 5, which will reportedly have a massive cover display.

Galaxy Z Flip 5 design leak shows a much bigger cover display

According to tipster SuperRoader, the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s cover display could be divided into two parts. A smaller display can be seen beside its dual-camera setup, which displays the clock, battery charge level, and AR Emojis. A much bigger display (3.4-inch) could span the rest of the phone’s front when it’s folded, and its aspect ratio is reportedly 1:1.038, which means it’s almost a square screen. This will make it easier to interact with notifications, quick settings, and widgets without opening the phone. It can also double up as a much better camera viewfinder. Whether or not Samsung would allow it to use full-fledged apps remains to be seen.

The other design change appears to be the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s sides, which now seem flat. The phone also appears to feature rounded corners. Thanks to the rumored waterdrop-shaped hinge, the phone is expected to be folded completely flat, with no gap between the two halves of the device. The fingerprint reader still seem to be positioned on the side. According to tipster IceUniverse (@UniverseIce), the Galaxy Z Flip 5 still features an IPX8 rating for water resistance. The phone’s inner display is reportedly narrower than the Galaxy Z Flip 4.

IceUniverse also tipped that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 features a new touchscreen technology but gave no hints about what it actually is. The phone is expected to feature a foldable screen with almost no visible crease, a bigger primary camera sensor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy processor, and longer battery life.
