Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 dummies handled, still have a gap

0 38

A while back we saw the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 in disguise. While the cover couldn’t conceal the new, larger cover display, it did hide most of the design. Now someone has gotten their hands on Z Flip5 dummies, so here is what the phone will look like.

There is a short video included in the post by Leakspinner, which also shows a black version of the phone. And, more importantly, it shows what the phone looks like closed.

The upcoming pair of foldables is supposed to use a droplet-style hinge to close the gap when the phones are folded. However, the dummy seen in the video still has a distinct gap.

The new hinge should at least add dust resistance for an IP58 rating, i.e. not fully sealed (IP6X) but any dust that gets in shouldn’t cause any damage. Previous Galaxy Z devices were only water resistant (IPX8).

Besides the larger cover display, not much has changed on the exterior. There is the volume rocker and power button/fingerprint reader on the right, a SIM card tray on the left and a USB-C port on the bottom (the Z Flip5 is rumored to support DeX, though it might only be the wireless option). For more on the leaked Galaxy Z Flip5 specs, check out this post.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 and Z Fold5, along with a new generation of Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Tab S9 will be unveiled on July 26. If you’re in the US, you can sign up for $50 credit before the pre-orders start.
