I’ve yet to switch sides from slab-type phones to foldable ones, and I’m pretty happy with the Galaxy S24+. Even so, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 beckons me, and in a different reality, I can tell that it would have been my dream phone.

For some context, years ago, I was an aspiring concept artist. Or, more specifically, I toyed around with the idea of trying to become one, perhaps not fully understanding the hardships and sacrifices required at that time.

I think it was more of a phase than a true calling, but in any case, I spent a lot of time watching online videos from renowned concept artists, trying to apply their lessons in my digital artistry attempts and understand how they looked at the world. I was fascinated.

Galaxy Z Fold 5 is my perfect paper notebook replacement

Needless to say, I’m no longer pursuing the path of a concept artist. But one thing that stuck with me is that most people who do this job always pay attention to their surroundings. You sometimes see them taking notes and sketching things, usually on a paper notebook or any scrap of paper they can find. Students often carry a notebook and a pen just in case they need to jot down some ideas.

And that’s where the Galaxy Z Fold 5 comes into my alternate reality. In my mind, it is undoubtedly the perfect phone for an alternate self who would have continued walking down the path of an aspiring concept artist.

As soon as the opportunity of combining a phone and paper notebook into one device would have shown itself, I would have jumped on it in a heartbeat. The Galaxy Z Fold 5, complete with an S pen case, would have been mine as the ultimate sketch and note-taking device on the go.

That reality may never come to pass, but if you happen to be in that predicament, I truly hope the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is as fun and useful for your digital artistry needs as I imagine.
