0 53

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 launched today, and we’re here to take a closer look at its specifications. There’s, of course, a lot to talk about here, so let’s get to it.

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 specifications are not exactly surprising

First and foremost, the SoC. Samsung opted for Qualcomm’s best offering, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The company paired this with 12GB of RAM and either 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of internal storage. Do note that the storage is not expandable. Also, the storage variants may vary by market.

There are two displays on the phone, of course. The main one is a 7.6-inch QXGA+ (1812 x 2176) Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel. This is the Infinity Flex display, as Samsung calls it. We’re looking at a 374 ppi here, and this display has a 120Hz refresh rate (adaptive, 1-120Hz).

The cover display is a 6.2-inch HD+ (2316 x 904) panel. This is also a Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, and it has a 402 ppi. This panel also offers a 120Hz refresh rate, which is adaptive (48-120Hz).

A 4,400mAh battery is included, while wireless charging is supported

A 4,400mAh battery is included on the inside, and the phone supports 25W wired charging. It can reach a 50% charge in about 30 minutes, and the charger is not included in the box. It also supports Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 (15W), and Wireless PowerShare (reverse wireless charging).

There are three cameras on the back of the Galaxy Z Fold 5, and one camera on each of the two displays. A 50-megapixel main camera (wide-angle, f/1.8 aperture, 1.0um pixel size, 85-degree FoV, OIS, Dual Pixel AF) is backed by a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera (f/2.2 aperture, 1.12um pixel size, 123-degree FoV). A 10-megapixel telephoto camera (f/2.4 aperture, 1.0um pixel size, 36-degree FoV, 3x optical zoom) also sits on the back.

Samsung is using an under-display camera once again

On the main display, you’ll find a 4-megapixel under-display camera (f/1.8 aperture, 2.0um pixel size, 80-degree FoV). On the cover display, a 10-megapixel selfie camera (f/2.2 aperture, 1.22um pixel size, 85-degree FoV) is included in the form of a display camera hole.

Android 13 comes pre-installed on the device, along with OneUI 5.1.1 skin. Bluetooth 5.3 is supported, as is 5G connectivity. The device is IPX8 certified for water resistance. A side-facing fingerprint scanner is also a part of the package, as are two nano SIM card slots, and an eSIM functionality.

The phone comes in three color variants

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be available in four color options in most places, Cream, Icy Blue, and Phantom Black. Samsung.com is getting some exclusive colors, however, including Blue and Gray. The phone measures 154.9 x 129.8 x 6.1mm when unfolded. It measures 154.9 x 67.1 x 13.5mm when folded. The phone weighs 253 grams.
