This weekend, Samsung Gaming Hub turned one year old. And to mark the occasion and Gaming Hub’s success, the cloud-based gaming platform gained a new identity. Samsung is rebranding Gaming Hub with a new logo that the company claims “illustrates our promise to democratize gaming for everyone by unlocking access to thousands of games with almost any controller.”

Oddly enough, the new Gaming Hub logo looks like a cross between a gamepad and a VR headset, which might be a sign of things to come. As you may already know, Samsung is developing a new mixed-reality (XR) headset, which it might unveil later this year or early 2024.

We don’t know much about the XR experience Samsung’s been working on in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm, but this new Gaming Hub logo hints that the XR device and the cloud-gaming platform might somehow be connected.

We could speculate that the XR headset can stream Gaming Hub content on a virtual screen. Or maybe the gaming platform will get cloud-based VR games that can be controlled with the upcoming Samsung XR headset. Then again, perhaps the tech giant is simply thinking ahead and has no immediate VR and Gaming Hub-related plans that would explain the new logo.

What has Gaming Hub achieved in one year?

Gaming Hub has become one of the most accessible and widespread cloud-based gaming platforms in the world. The platform is available on select 2021 (and later) Samsung smart TVs and smart monitors in a few dozen markets. And besides a controller, users don’t need any other specialized hardware to get into cloud gaming.

Since its release in June 2022, Gaming Hub gained more than 3,000 games through partner services and also gained more partners, including Amazon Luna, Antstream Arcade, and Blacknut.

The company also expanded compatibility to additional smart TVs and monitors, and although Gaming Hub was originally available for models released in 2022, the company added backward compatibility for partner apps with select 2021 smart TVs.

Finally, Samsung introduced Gaming Hub in more countries. And on the platform’s 1st anniversary, the company said the cloud-based gaming platform will be available in more regions soon.
