Samsung gets partnered with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth for PlayStation 5

0 17

Square Enix recently released the second Final Fantasy game in its planned trilogy of PlayStation remakes. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is now out for the PlayStation 5, and Samsung has partnered with the Japanese developer for the game’s launch.

Samsung and its 990 Pro with Heatsink SSD are the official partners of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. This partnership highlights the SSD’s capabilities as an accessory for PlayStation 5 gamers.

As video games evolve and become more graphically intricate, they are getting bigger in size. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is on the larger side, with an install size of 145GB.

The PlayStation 5 console offers roughly 670GB of usable storage, which is not enough for gamers who want to install more than a couple of AAA games.

Samsung SSDs and the PlayStation 5 are a match made in heaven

Thankfully, the PlayStation 5 gaming console has a storage expansion bay for SSDs. However, not every SSD is supported or even recommended, given the console’s high performance and the bay’s tight space with relatively poor airflow.

Given the PS5’s design, the Samsung SSD 990 Pro with Heatsink is the most recommended storage solution for Sony’s console, and now, it is officially recognized by Square Enix. With up to 4TB of storage, the 990 Pro with Heatsink offers plenty of space for the latest generation of games.

The 990 Pro with Heatsink is fast enough to match the PlayStation 5’s internal storage, delivering sequential read and write speeds of up to 7,450 MB/s and 6,900 MB/s, respectively. And because it is equipped with a heatsink, it can safely and reliably function inside the PlayStation 5’s storage expansion slot without overheating.

According to Samsung, PlayStation 5 players can upgrade their consoles with the 990 Pro with Heatsink and have Final Fantasy VII Rebirth ready to play in just about 10 minutes. You would need fast internet download speeds to achieve that 10-minute installation time, of course.

If you are interested in buying the 990 Pro SSD with Heatsink, the 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB variants usually cost $154, $239, and $419, respectively. However, it so happens that the SSD is now available at discounts of up to $70.
