Samsung is working on more skin temperature based features for the Galaxy Watch5 series

0 29

It took Samsung several months, but the skin temperature sensor on the Galaxy Watch5 and Watch5 Pro was finally enabled last week. However, these sensors are currently used for just one feature – skin temperature based cycle tracking.

That’s just the start, though. A Samsung official posted on the company’s Korean forum to reveal that more temperature-based features are being developed and that they will be delivered with future software updates.

However, the timing of the release is uncertain – such health-tracking features may require certification by local authorities in each region, which is why progress has been so slow.

One possible feature is just showing the wearer’s current temperature. Right now you can’t see the reading, it’s a hidden value used only for the watch’s calculations.

Anyway, there is a good chance that the new features will debut with the upcoming Galaxy Watch6 series and that they will be back-ported to the Watch5 series later on. The new models are expected in late July.
