Samsung isn’t launching Galaxy A55 in the USA, at least for now

0 15

Yesterday, Samsung launched two new mid-range smartphones—Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A55—to complete its Galaxy A lineup for 2024. While the company revealed their availability and pricing for the European market, it didn’t reveal much information for the US. And it looks like the Galaxy A55 will not be launched in the US.

Galaxy A55 isn’t launching in the US for now

Since Samsung kept mum about the availability and pricing of the Galaxy A35 and the Galaxy A55 for the US market, many wondered why. CNET reached out to Samsung USA, and it has been confirmed that the Galaxy A55 isn’t launching in the US, at least for now. The Galaxy A35 is launching in the US soon, though.

A Samsung US representative said in a statement to CNET, “We can confirm that Galaxy A35 5G will be coming to the US market and look forward to sharing more details in the coming weeks. We will not be carrying the Galaxy A55 5G at this time.

While the reason for not launching the Galaxy A55 isn’t clear, it could be due to the phone’s pricing and possible competition with Samsung’s own Galaxy S23 FE. Last year, Samsung launched the Galaxy A54 in the US with a $450 price tag. The Galaxy A55 brings several upgrades this year, including a faster 4nm processor (Exynos 1480), a metal frame, Gorilla Glass Victus+, Samsung Knox Vault, and an eSIM. So, its pricing could have been higher than that of the Galaxy A54 in the US.

So, Samsung might push people more towards the Galaxy S23 FE with several carrier deals and offers instead of launching the Galaxy A55.
