Recent rumors that Samsung could launch the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 sooner than expected have received backing from another reputed source. The folks over at the all-things-Samsung website SamMobile have heard from industry insiders that the Korean firm is considering a late July unveiling of the new foldables. The publication has hinted at a Galaxy Unpacked event in the middle of the final week of July, i.e. anytime between July 25-27.

Samsung could prepone its next Galaxy Unpacked by about two weeks

Samsung usually holds two big Galaxy Unpacked events every year. The first event comes early in the year and brings its Galaxy S series flagships, while the second event comes in August and brings new foldables. But rumors are that the company is considering preponing this year’s second Unpacked to late July. It reportedly plans to begin the mass production of hinges for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 in early June to ensure an early release of the new foldables.

A late July launch of the new foldables won’t be that early, though. If Samsung does end up holding the next Galaxy Unpacked event in the aforementioned period, it would be about two weeks earlier than last year. But as things stand, nothing is set in stone. The source itself isn’t 100 percent sure about the information. So we advise you to take it with a pinch of salt. However, if it turns out to be accurate, the growing competition in the foldable market could be the trigger.

The Pixel Fold may have made Samsung launch its new Galaxy foldables in July

Samsung considering a July launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 may have something to do with the Google Pixel Fold. The Android maker is gearing up to launch its first foldable smartphone in May, with a market release rumored for late June. The Korean firm may be looking to counter the Google foldable with an early release of its new foldables. It wouldn’t want to give the Pixel Fold too much breathing space in the market and potentially steal Galaxy Z Fold 5 customers.

Of course, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 won’t be the only products seeing the light of day at Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event. The company is readying the Galaxy Watch 6 series as well. The Classic model is returning this year along with its iconic physical rotating bezel. The Korean giant is also expected to unveil a new pair of TWS earbuds and the Galaxy Tab S9 lineup of flagship tablets at the same event. The Galaxy S23 FE may arrive a few months later, though. Stay tuned for more about these upcoming Samsung products and the official dates for Galaxy Unpacked.
