0 16

Samsung has released a new software update to the Galaxy S21 FE. It brings the March 2024 security patch which fixes 45 security issues.

For now, the company has made the update available for three variants of the smartphone, the international version with the Exynos chipset (SM-G990B), the international model with the Snapdragon SoC (SM-G990B2), and the carrier-locked variant for the US (SM-G990U). The update changes the firmware version of the SM-G990B to G990BXXS6FXC1, of the SM-G990B2 to G990B2XXS5FXC1, and of the SM-G990U to G990USQSAFXC2.

Samsung should start rolling out the latest security update to other variants of the smartphone in the next couple of days. As usual, you can get the update by going to Settings » Software update » Download and install. You can also download it from our firmware section and install it manually using a Windows PC and Odin.

While we are on the topic of software updates, it is worth mentioning that Samsung is expected to roll out One UI 6.1 to eligible devices starting at the end of this month. The Galaxy S21 FE is eligible to get the update. However, since the device is now more than two years old, Samsung will offer One UI 6.1 to it after making it available for newer and more expensive smartphones, such as the Galaxy S24 series.
