Samsung Reminds Everyone About Durability Of Galaxy Z Fold 4

0 57

Samsung takes a lot of pride in the durability of its foldable smartphones, and rightly so. Its Fold and Flip lines of foldables are unarguably the most durable out there. They are the only folding smartphones with an official IP rating for water resistance. The company recently released an ad reminding the world about these durability enhancements on the Galaxy Z Fold 4.

The new ad is an answer to some of the most common user concerns about folding phones: can the Fold be lighter, can it be stronger, or can the Fold handle everyday wear and tear? Samsung begins its answer by highlighting that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 features an Armor Aluminum body. First used on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 last year, the company claims it to be its strongest aluminum frame yet.

The inner folding screen is made of UTG (ultra-thin glass) which is stronger and can withstand thousands of folds and unfolds in a long run. The display assembly itself contains multiple layers. While there’s no metal back plate this time around, as revealed in a teardown last month, we get plenty of shock absorption materials such as fiber-reinforced plastic. This structured display layer protects the screen from external shock.

Samsung is also using rubber bumpers around the display for added protection. Moreover, Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus+ protects the Galaxy Z Fold 4’s front and back. This adds to the phone’s strength while ensuring a premium look and feel. As said earlier, we get an official IP rating as well, though the latest Samsung ad doesn’t talk about that. The foldable boasts an IPX8 rating. The Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Galaxy Z Flip 3 also offer the same IP rating.

Samsung Care+ covers your Galaxy Z Fold 4 during accidental damage

Despite all these durability enhancements, it’s a no-brainer that you should take proper care of your Galaxy Z Fold 4 or any other smartphone for that matter. A hard fall on concrete can crack the strongest of glass, and the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ isn’t any different. However, you can never be fully prepared for accidents, which happen without any warning. That’s where Samsung Care+ comes in. It covers your phone from various accidental damage such as cracked screen and liquid damage out of warranty at a nominal monthly fee. If you’re using a Samsung flagship, you can check out Samsung Care+ benefits and cost for your region here.
