Samsung succeeded in stopping Galaxy Ring from getting leaked

0 20

Samsung unveiled three new phones at the Galaxy Unpacked 2024 event last night. While people were expecting the South Korean firm to unveil or at least tease its upcoming XR headset, the company surprised everyone by teasing its upcoming fitness tracking ring, the Galaxy Ring.

Galaxy Ring was a well-kept secret inside Samsung

Samsung is infamous for not controlling the leaks of its upcoming products. Even the Galaxy S24 series that was announced last night was leaked in detail weeks before the official announcement. However, that didn’t happen with the Galaxy Ring. And there could be a reason behind that. Only a few people in Samsung’s headquarters in South Korea knew about the Galaxy Ring. We talked to a few people at Samsung, and the company’s employees confirmed to us that very few people had knowledge about the product. The company should work in a similar way for its other products, including smartphones, as well.

This is similar to the Galaxy Fold, Samsung’s first smartphone with a foldable screen. The original Galaxy Fold was a well-kept secret, too, and the company surprised everyone with its announcement in early 2019. Its images or features weren’t leaked before the official unveiling. The Galaxy Ring is a few months away from its actual launch, as Samsung hasn’t revealed any of its features. The company said that the Galaxy Ring would offer users a more comfortable way to track their health, fitness, and sleep. It is for people who don’t like to wear a Galaxy Watch while sleeping or may feel it cumbersome to keep wearing a smartwatch throughout the day.

It is likely that the Galaxy Ring will be able to work alongside the Galaxy Watch, and data from both wearables could be fed to the Samsung Health app for improved accuracy. The Galaxy Ring could also be a much cheaper device, thanks to the lack of a screen, and hence be accessible to more users. We should know more about the Galaxy Ring in the coming months.
