Samsung to fix Vivid mode with a toggle in next Galaxy S24 update

0 37

Samsung started shipping the Galaxy S24 flagships just last week, but early adopters found an issue with the screen mode of the new phones. According to multiple reports, the screen is not as colorful as expected in Vivid Mode, and the company acknowledged the issue.

Now tipster Ice Universe reveals that Samsung is working on a solution that will boost vividness and even enable granular control over it. It is a three-step option and should come with the next software update.

The first step is the default saturation, in which the Galaxy S24 panel is more Vivid than the Natural option but nowhere near what Samsung used to offer on previous phones.

Sliding the toggle to the middle, or the second step, will put the S24 display closer to the vivid S23 colors, while the third option will allegedly go even beyond that.

The toggle appears to be in the Advanced Settings of Vivid Screen mode, which is part of the Display Settings. It will sit underneath the White Balance options, where a user can manually change the RGB levels of the display.

The vivid mode issues are clearly not turning away too many customers as Samsung increased its shipment target for the Galaxy S24 series. The target moved from 12 million to 13 million units for Q1 2024. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is the most desired of the trio, with Samsung reporting 65% share of pre-orders for the big phone with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Titanium frame, and new telephoto camera.
