Earlier this morning, Samsung organized an event at Samsung Digital City in Suwon, South Korea, to welcome 2023. The event was attended by around 150 people, who were mostly top officials of the company, including Jong-Hee Han, Co-CEO of Samsung Electronics, and Kye Hyun Kyung, President & CEO of MX Division.

Addressing the new year, Jong-Hee Han and Kye Hyun Kyung issued a joint statement that reads, “I deeply appreciate the dedication and hard work of all executives and employees at home and abroad who did their best in their respective positions despite difficult external conditions. Let’s use it as a mirror and cross the wall of limitations once again.

Apart from top officials addressing the new year, Samsung also took advantage of the ceremony to give awards to top performers or what it calls ‘Samsung Masters’ of each division at the firm. The event was streamed live to all business sites of Samsung in South Korea through an internal video conference system.

Samsung will implement a new environmental strategy this year

This is also the year when Samsung is supposed to fully implement the new environmental strategy, which it announced back in September. Commenting on the matter, Han said, “let’s actively foster eco-friendly technology as our future competitiveness and make sure that using Samsung products is creating a sustainable tomorrow. The future status and competitiveness will change depending on how we respond to the current crisis.

The Co-CEO also commented on the work culture at the company, saying, “the driving force behind making all the changes to make a new history is the executives and staff members. We will do our best to create an open organizational culture based on diversity, fairness, and inclusion. Let’s thoroughly abide by the law-abiding guidelines at all business sites at home and abroad and strive to establish a law-abiding culture.

Samsung’s big announcements in 2023

Samsung’s big announcements for 2023 include the launch of the Galaxy S23 series in February and the debut of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 in November. This year could also see Samsung shifting its focus from QLED TVs to OLED TVs by launching more QD-OLED models and taking the market by storm. However, the profit from the company’s mobile division this year is expected to be lower than last year.
