The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro isn’t going anywhere, Samsung has confirmed, stating today that it will still offer the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro as part of its overall smartwatch lineup post Galaxy Watch 6 launch. Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 5 Pro was a step in a new direction for Samsung. The company was offering a pro-style watch that was meant to be for outdoor enthusiasts in the same way Garmin has been doing for years with its Fenix line.

The company has always offered a sporty watch. But every year it’s more of the same. A more active-looking watch with sport bands designed for exercise, and a more traditional style watch for everyday wear. Though, realistically the two are interchangeable and can be worn anytime. But with the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, Samsung was actually offering a watch designed to be more rugged, offer more features for adventurers, and branch off into a new category. It this last reason that plays a big role in why Samsung will still offer the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro.

Samsung will still offer the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro because it’s for a different audience

The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is in a different league of watches from the others in the Galaxy Watch series. And that’s one of the main reasons it will be sticking around. Although, Samsung did still offer the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic for a time after the 5 series was released.

But things are a bit different this time because the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro has a specific intended customer. Those who want a more rugged outdoor smartwatch. Speaking to Android Headlines, Samsung says “The Galaxy Watch 5 pro is for a different audience, versus the classic.” And there you have it. Though there is sure to be some overlap in who might buy one or the other, there are certainly defining lines.

The Classic is designed for those who want a capable smartwatch with a slightly more traditional watch style. The 5 Pro is designed for those who might shop for an outdoor sport watch. Even if they don’t really look all that different when it comes to the physical design.
