Samsung’s Galaxy A52 Gets Android 13 Beta With October Security Patch

0 51

Samsung has opened up its Android 13-based One UI 5.0 beta program for the Galaxy A52. The company has started beta testing the new Android version for the 2021 mid-ranger in India. The device is receiving the beta update ahead of the likes of the Galaxy S20 series and Galaxy foldables. The Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S21 series are the only other Samsung phones to get One UI 5.0 beta programs so far.

The first Android 13 beta update for the Galaxy A52 is already live for enrolled users in India. The new firmware version is A525FXXU4ZVIC. The download package weighs almost 2GB and also bundles the October security patch. Of course, Samsung has yet to detail next month’s security patch. However, we are more interested in the main content of this update, i. e. Android 13 and One UI 5.0.

There’s plenty to talk about in this software package. The changelog posted by a user on Samsung’s community forums shows the Galaxy A52 is getting most of the new features that the company rolled out to its flagship models. We can also see some One UI 4.1.1 features, such as custom call backgrounds for individual contact and OCR (optical character recognition) for extracting text from images.

Other highlights of Android 13-based One UI 5.0 includes minor UI refresh, improved Color Palette, smoother system animations, improved widgets, new gestures, easier zooming in the camera app, new Pro mode camera features, improved Samsung DeX, new layout for notifications, more options for RAM Plus (virtual RAM), and new privacy, safety, accessibility, and digital wellbeing features.

Samsung may soon release the stable Android 13 update for its Galaxy smartphones

Samsung has been publicly beta testing Android 13 and its One UI 5.0 custom software since early last month. It has already released multiple beta builds to the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S21 phones. The Galaxy A52 is joining the program today, and we expect it to open up for more devices soon. The Galaxy S20 series, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Galaxy Z Flip 3 should be the next in the pipeline. Maybe Samsung will also roll out a public beta for the Galaxy A53.

Nonetheless, recent developments suggest the Korean firm is nearing the stable Android 13 release for its devices. Rumors are that the Galaxy S22 series will get the new Android version in mid-October. We are now just about three weeks away from the rumored timeline. Hopefully, it turns out to be true. We will let you know when the rollout begins.
