Last month, Samsung introduced a new Odyssey G5 monitor, which features a curved form factor instead of a flat panel. The monitor, i.e., the Odyssey G55C, is now available for a lower price thanks to its first limited-time discount.

The Odyssey G55C monitor is available in 27-inch and 32-inch sizes, and the latter variant is now $50 cheaper thanks to this deal. The 32-inch Odyssey G5 now costs $299 instead of $349, so for a limited time, it has the same price as the smaller 27-inch variant.

If you don’t want to pay $299 outright, you can buy the new Odyssey G5 on a 12-month plan through Samsung Financing (where available). It will set you back $25 a month.

What’s new about this Odyssey G55C monitor?

The most striking difference between the previous G51C variant and the new Odyssey G55C is that the latest model has a 1000R curved screen instead of a flat one. This design fills your peripheral view better and offers more immersion while gaming.

The curved panel has a QHD resolution (2560 x 1440), 178 viewing angles (horizontal and vertical), AMD FreeSync, and a maximum refresh rate of 165Hz. The display can reach 300 nits of brightness and has HDR10.

Samsung’s new Odyssey G5 monitor might also have a better response time, or, at the very least, the official spec sheet mentions the MPRT (Moving Picture Response Time) measurement instead of GtG (Gray to Gray). MPRT is more reflective of real-world usage than the GtG measurement method. So, for what it’s worth, the old Odyssey G51C has 1ms GtG, while the new G5 curved monitor posts 1ms MPRT.

One thing that is missing from this new curved model is the older variant’s stand versatility. While the flat G51C monitor is height-adjustable, the new G55C is not. Neither model runs Tizen OS, so they lack smart TV apps, Samsung TV Plus, and Gaming Hub.

Hit the buy button below and look for “G55C” at Samsung’s store to grab this new Odyssey G5 model at a discount while the deal lasts.
