Samsung’s “Ultimate” NVMe SSD, the 990 Pro, is now available in Europe. More specifically, this latest SSD that offers higher performance than the 980 Pro and claims to deliver up to 50% better energy efficiency is now available in Germany at Samsung’s online shop. It’s available in two memory configurations, and as of this writing, the variant with a heatsink appears to be missing from the store.

Prospective buyers in Germany can get the 990 Pro NVMe M.2 SSD without a heatsink, with 1TB or 2TB of storage. The 1TB variant is available for €174, whereas the 2TB model has a price tag of €324. Customers also have the option to buy the 990 Pro 2TB model in 12 monthly installments of €27.08 each.

Fit for high-end PCs and gaming consoles

The 990 Pro is fast enough to meet the requirements of the latest gaming consoles, although you may need a heatsink if you plan on using it for dedicated gaming machines.

Performance-wise, the 990 Pro can top sequential read and write speeds of up to 7,450MB/s and 6,900MB/s, respectively, and random read/write speeds of up to 1,400K and 1,550K IOPS.

Samsung claims that the controller plated in nickel has a “state-of-the-art thermal control algorithm” that allows the SSD to boast unrestricted performance. Although it’s available with 1TB or 2TB of storage, the company also plans to release a 4TB model at an unspecified date in 2023.
