Saweetie and P-Lo Drop ‘Bay-Triotic’ 49ers Anthem: Listen

0 18

It’s about to get hyphy at Levi’s Stadium.

On Friday, Saweetie and P-Lo released the fiery collaboration “Do It For the Bay,” an anthem written for the San Francisco 49ers as they fight to make it to the Super Bowl in the NFL playoffs.

In the lyrics, the duo references Bay Area legend E-40, the Niner gang, and the “city of the dubs,” seemingly referencing the Bay Area’s Golden State Warriors.

“I’m excited to share our new 49ers single designed to hype up the team and The Faithful for this playoffs run,” Saweetie said in a statement. “I want to thank the 49ers organization for this opportunity. Shout out to P-Lo for doing what he does.”

“I love that we were able to collaborate and make something that’s so Bay-triotic, as P-Lo would say,” she added.

Both P-Lo and Saweetie proudly represent being from NorCal in much of their music. Saweetie was born in Santa Clara, minutes away from the 49ers’ Levi’s Stadium. Meanwhile, the HBK gang member was born right outside San Francisco.

Allie Dicken of the 49ers’ marketing team lauded the two stars as “iconic.” “We’re lucky to be based in a region that is thriving with talent, diversity, and innovation, and excited that Saweetie and P-Lo were able to capture those values in this new anthem for The Bay,” Dicken said.

The 49ers are set to play the Green Bay Parkers Saturday after landing No. 1 in the NFC West.

“Do It For the Bay” seems to be part of a comeback for Saweetie, who also released “All Night,” her collaboration with K-pop group IVE on Friday. The “Icy” star is also set to release her “immortal Freestyle” on Monday morning. (She dropped singles “Birthday” and “Shot O’Clock” last summer.)

As for P-Lo, he dropped single “Talkin Bout” earlier this year, after dropping the deluxe edition of his album Stunna last year. The LP featured “Good” with Larry June and “Again” with E-40 and LaRussell. (He also joined Vietnamese-American star Thuy on “Inhibitions” last April.)
