The ousted BharatPe founder and CEO Ashneer Grover is a mega car enthusiast. He has talked about cars passionately in the past and also owns several high-end vehicles. Ashneer has recently put up a video of himself driving a Ferrari 296 GTB and commenting on the car.

Grover said on a social media post, “Ferrari 296! Feels so much lighter than the Porsche – and yet so much heavier on the pocket than it.”

He was driving the car on Budh International Circuit (BIC) in the video. He was tackling the slaloms in the video. Ferrari conducted an experience drive for the prospective customers to which Grover was also invited.

Interestingly, Grover also owns a sports car – a Porsche Cayman, which he takes out on late-night drives quite often. He compared the Porsche to the Ferrari and said that the Italian supercar is much lighter to drive but is much more expensive compared to the Porsche. The Ferrari 296 GTB starts at Rs 5.4 crore, ex-showroom, which makes it 5 times more expensive compared to the Porsche Cayman which gets a price tag of Rs 1.2 crore.

What makes the Ferrari 296 GTB special?

The name 296 comes from the 2,992cc, six-cylinder engine while GTB expands to Grand Turismo Berlinetta. The 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine produces a massive 654 PS of power. It is a record for a production car. The engine also gets an electric motor assist that produces an additional 166 PS. The combined power output of the car is about 830 PS. The combined torque output is 740 Nm.

The Ferrari 296 GTB can do 0-100 km/h sprint in just 2.9 seconds and it can achieve a top speed of over 330 km/h. The power goes to the wheels through the 8-speed automatic transmission. The 296 GTB can be driven purely in electric mode, which can propel it for about 25 km.

It also uses an active rear spoiler that generates a massive 360 kg of downforce at 250 km/h with the track-focussed Assetto Fiorano pack. The 296 GTB also gets a futuristic cabin with a digital gauge cluster and the steering wheel housed in a concave dashboard section. The two panels of the sides have touch-capacitive controls.

Ashneer owns several high-end cars

Apart from the Porsche Cayman, which is an entry-level sports car from the brand, Ashneer also owns a Mercedes Benz GLS 350, Mercedes-Maybach S650, Audi A6 and Hyundai Verna.

In an interview, he stressed on buying used cars to save money and get better deals than new cars. Do you think Ashneer will buy the latest from the Maranello to replace his Porsche?
