School kid on cycle miraculously escapes getting crushed under a bus

Accidents happen on Indian roads every day. Unfortunately, many people lose their lives or sustain serious injuries in such accidents. In most cases, rash driving and overspeeding are often the reasons for these accidents. While we have heard of incidents where people actually lose their lives on the road, there are also cases where people miraculously walk away from major accidents without any injuries. Here, we have one such incident from Kerala, where a schoolboy on a bicycle miraculously escaped being crushed under a bus.

The incident took place in Kerala’s Malappuram district a few days ago. It was raining in most parts of Kerala, and the road was wet at the time of the accident. The school bus was driving straight through a road near a market area. The bus was maintaining a decent speed and was not being driven recklessly. Since it was raining, there weren’t many people on the road. As the bus approached a T-junction, a cyclist suddenly came in front of the bus. Before the bus driver could react, the cyclist was already under the bus.

The cyclist was actually Aditya, a 10th-grade student. The bus driver applied the brakes, but by the time the bus stopped, the child was already under it. The bicycle had ended up beneath the bus tires. However, the child was safe. He had been thrown under the bus, away from the wheels. Soon after the bus came to a halt, locals gathered around to rescue the schoolboy and pulled him out. His raincoat, which got torn apart in the accident, was taken off. The locals then took him to the nearest hospital.

In the accident, Aditya sustained minor injuries to his shoulder and face. Apart from that, there were no other injuries. Aditya was actually descending a slope when the accident occurred. While going downhill, he lost control of his bicycle and couldn’t apply the brakes in time. The bicycle gained speed and crashed into the bus passing through the T-junction. The bicycle was completely crushed under the bus, but the schoolboy was extremely lucky to have walked away from this accident without any major injuries. Considering the wet road, it is possible that the bicycle also skidded when he applied the brakes while descending the slope.

This is not the first time we have come across an incident like this. We have seen several accident videos where people have narrowly escaped without sustaining major injuries. Last year in March, a child suddenly entered a single-lane road in Kerala and collided with a motorcyclist, being thrown to the other side of the road. The child narrowly avoided a major accident as a KSRTC bus was following the motorcyclist and didn’t have enough time to apply the brakes. If the child had missed hitting the motorcyclist, he would have crashed into the bus. The bicycle was crushed by the bus, but the child was unharmed.

In this case too, the child was extremely lucky to have escaped the accident with minor injuries. The chances of him being crushed under the bus were quite high. In this case, the student riding the bicycle was at fault as he couldn’t stop the bicycle in time. The bus driver failed to notice the cyclist due to multiple reasons.
