  • According to a post by X (formerly Twitter) user Majin Bu, the iPhone 16 series lineup will see a noteworthy change in its battery capacity.
  • The iPhone 16 and 16 Pro Max are tipped to come with an increased battery capacity of 3,561mAh (vs 3,349mAh on iPhone 15) and 4,676mAh (vs 4,422mAh on the iPhone 15 Pro Max) respectively.
  • On the other hand, the iPhone 16 Plus will feature a smaller battery capacity of 4,006mAh (vs 4,383mAh on the iPhone 15 Plus).
  • The tipster also shared that the iPhone 16 Pro Max will not share the L-shaped battery pack design on the iPhone 15 Pro Max and will instead come with the standard rectangular battery pack like the other iPhone 16 series.
  • It is unclear why the iPhone 16 Plus will come with a smaller battery, so it is better to treat the news with some scepticism.

iPhone 16 series: what we know so far

  • The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are tipped to feature larger 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch display sizes, compared to 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
  • The A18 chipset is likely to power the non-pro iPhone 16 models, while the A18 Pro is likely to power the iPhone 16 Pro models.
  • As per a previous leak, the iPhone 16 is set to have 8GB of RAM, a step up from the current 6GB found in the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.
  • The latest prototype for the iPhone 16 series non-pro models shows two vertically aligned cameras inside a pill-shaped module. The dual-camera setup will include a wide lens and an ultra-wide-angle lens.
  • A previous leak suggests that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will be equipped with a 1/1.14-inch primary camera and a periscope telephoto lens.
  • The new iPhone 16 series will come with a “capture button” with the same functionality as DSLRs and mirrorless cameras.
  • The Capture Button will take photos or videos, and by lightly tapping it, users can adjust the focus in their images and videos.
  • Apple is also planning to introduce an underwater mode, where the interface will have larger buttons, fewer menus, and more inputs using the on-device buttons like the power or volume buttons.
