Mahindra & Mahindra registered its highest-ever monthly sales in September; The SUV maker’s latest products, XUV700 and Scorpio did the magic and managed to achieve a combined sales mark of more than 15,000.

Riding the tide, Mahindra & Mahindra is in full flow and got its highest-ever monthly sales in September. As the Indian automobile industry is slowly recovering post the pandemic, the advantage of the festive season has given some fruitful results to car manufacturers. The Indian SUV maker sold a total of 34,262 units in the passenger vehicle segment, topping the SUV sales chart in the country.

Mahindra XUV700 and Scorpio N: Combined 15,000 Units Sold in September

The latest products in the Mahindra’s line-up, the XUV700, Scorpio N and the updated Scorpio Classic were among the major contributors to the overall sales. The XUV700 sales stood at 6,063 units while the Scorpio nameplate individually registered sales of 9,536 units, the highest from Mahindra. However, the company did not disclose the separate sales break-up of Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic. Apart from this, 8018 units of Bolero were sold in September, thereby occupying the second spot. The XUV300, Thar and Alturas G4 are trailing behind by selling 6080, 4249 and 51 units respectively. Talking about YoY growth, Bolero is the highest gainer with a 356.87% yearly rise, while the XUV700 and Scorpio gain 342.55% and 268.47% respectively. In MoM sales comparison, the XUV300 is the highest gainer with a considerable 40.68% hike.

Mahindra XUV700 and Scorpio N: Details

The price range of Scorpio N starts from Rs. 11.99 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs. 23.90 lakh (ex-showroom). In terms of powertrain, the SUV is powered by a 2.2 litre mHawk Diesel engine, belting out 175 bhp of maximum power. The 6-speed manual gearbox option gets 370 Nm of peak torque while the 6-speed torque converter comes with 400 Nm of peak torque. The gasoline powerhouse of the Scorpio N is a 2.0-litre TGDi (Turbo Petrol Direct Injection) mStallion engine paired with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The power output is rated at 200 bhp and 370 (MT), 380 (AT) Nm of peak torque. The Scorpio N is the only SUV in its segment which comes with ladder frame construction and proper 4X4 capabilities.

Mahindra offers the Scorpio N in a total of 5 variants i.e. Z2, Z4, Z6, Z8 and Z8L. The 7 colour choices of the ‘Big Daddy of SUVs’ include Everest White, Royal Gold, Deep Forest Dazzling Silver, Red Rage, Grand Canyon and Napoli Black.

The Scorpio Classic is powered by the GEN-2 mHawk diesel engine producing 130 bhp and 300 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Mahindra doesn’t offer automatic and 4X4 in the Scorpio Classic. It is priced from Rs. 11.99 lakh to Rs. 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

The range of XUV700 starts from Rs. 13.45 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs. 24.95 lakh (ex-showroom). It uses the same powertrain as the Scorpio N but with a slightly higher state of tune.
