The entrepreneurial television show “Shark Tank India” has amassed a massive following in the country. As a result, its judges have also gained a ton of popularity. One of the Sharks or investors on the show, Anupam Mittal, who is the founder of the matchmaking website Shaadi.com, has also become quite popular in the last few months. The Shark received a verified badge on Instagram and his other social media accounts, including Twitter.

However, amid the recent announcement from Elon Musk, the multi-billionaire owner of Tesla, SpaceX, and now Twitter, the verified badge of Anupam Mittal and many other famous personalities has been taken away. In retaliation, Anupam Mittal recently tweeted that he would be canceling his planned purchase of a Tesla vehicle.

Elon Musk, who owns Twitter, is also the owner of Tesla Inc., one of the largest electric car manufacturers globally. It is unclear if this tweet was written in a joking manner or in a serious tone, but Anupam Mittal is not the only popular personality who has lost the coveted blue tick on Twitter. Recently, a number of celebrities, including Alia Bhatt, Virat Kohli, Shah Rukh Khan, and Amitabh Bachchan, among others, lost their verified badges.

The removal of Twitter verification badges was one of the first things the new owner, Elon Musk, said he would implement. After acquiring Twitter, the corporation specified a 90-day grace period before switching to the premium version when it first launched the subscription service. Musk stated earlier in April that the traditional blue checkmarks would be eliminated by April 20 or “4/20.”

As mentioned by the company, the removal of the historical blue checkmarks took place on the specified day. With this new policy, Elon Musk and Twitter are forcing users to purchase a Twitter Blue membership to keep the coveted symbol. The blue tick was lost by a number of prominent actors, politicians, athletes, and film stars. However, Elon Musk reinstated the blue badge to individuals with apparently more than a million followers hours after deleting the unpaid blue ticks.

As of yet, there is no information on which Tesla model Anupam Mittal was planning to buy as the company currently does not directly sell any of its cars in India. There are a number of privately imported Tesla cars in India, and we believe that Anupam might have also planned to get one in the same way.

Tesla had plans to offer cars for sale in India, but after getting forced by the government of India to first set up manufacturing plants in the country and then sell the models, Elon Musk withdrew his plans to bring the cars to the country. Elon Musk and Tesla requested the government multiple times to reduce the heavy import duties on the vehicles. However, the government did not budge, and eventually, the plans were scrapped.
