Sinbad is speaking out after his first public appearance following his 2020 stroke.

After joining the Different World cast via video for an appearance last Thursday at Morehouse College as part of the 2024 HBCU College Tour, the comedian took to social media to thank fans for their support.

In an Instagram Reel, the 67-year-old filmed himself watching the clip of his virtual appearance.

“Man, that was so cool … getting a chance to be on a Zoom and say something to the kids,” he said. “It’s wild that the kids even know who I am. That’s beautiful.”

He then thanked “everybody who’s been praying for me and saying good things and supporting me during this time in my life.”

Sinbad added, “It means so much when I hear from y’all and you tell me, ‘Sinbad, keep going.’ Saying, ‘Sinbad, we’re sending prayers. We’re praying. My family’s praying for you.’ Those words are important and I feel it. I feel those prayers.”

He also shared a message for fans who’ve reached out through his website: “Some of you are going through what I’m going through or even worse than me. I’m reading these things. I’m gonna try to answer as many as I can. I pray for you and understand what it’s like. It’s rough.”

The Sinbad Show star closed his video saying, “Expect to see more of me soon and don’t freak out if you turn around—I’m standing right behind you. ‘Sinbad, I can’t believe you’re here.’ You better believe it. Miracles happen.”

A clip from the Different World alum’s appearance went viral on social media, with many expressing how happy they were to see the comedian doing well.

Sinbad last appeared onscreen as himself in the Atlanta season four episode “The Goof Who Sat By the Door,” a mockumentary episode about Thomas Washington, a fictional Black man who becomes the CEO of the Walt Disney Company.

In Nov. 2022, a month after the episode aired, Sinbad’s family provided an update on his Instagram account, writing, “Sinbad appreciates all the love and support you have shown him over the last two years. Many of you have asked for updates and if there is anything Sinbad needs or what you can do to help. As a result, the family has created a site where you can keep up to date with his progress and also provide an avenue for those who wish to give.”
