Skoda To Launch 4 New Cars In India: Launch Timelines
Skoda India has been in the news lately for its decision to reintroduce diesel engine options in its models. Along with this, Skoda also has plans to launch new cars in India. Here we have a list of four such cars that Skoda plans to launch in the Indian market.
Enyaq
The first product from Skoda to hit Indian shores is the Enyaq. The Enyaq is Skoda’s first-ever electric car or SUV in the Indian market. It is, in fact, Skoda’s version of the Volkswagen ID4, which is expected to come to India. The Enyaq has been spotted testing on our roads several times and was first showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo recently. Enyaq will be sold as a CBU, and that will reflect in its pricing too. The electric SUV from Skoda is expected to bring the Enyaq iV 80x variant, which uses a 77kW battery pack that powers two motors – one at the front and the other at the rear. The electric SUV will generate around 265 bhp and will have a claimed range of 513 km with fully charged batteries. The Enyaq EV is expected to be launched in the coming months.
All-new Superb
Skoda discontinued their premium sedan, the Superb, from India last year due to updated emission norms. There are high chances that Skoda might reintroduce the current generation Superb in limited numbers. The next-generation Superb has already been unveiled internationally, and the same is expected to come to Indian shores sometime in 2024. This sedan is available with different engine options for different markets. There are three petrol, two diesel, and a plug-in hybrid version of the sedan on offer. This flagship sedan from Skoda will get a diesel engine option when it gets launched later this year.
All-New Octavia
Just like the Superb, Skoda discontinued the Octavia from the market due to BS6 phase 2 updates. The manufacturer unveiled the next-gen Octavia globally a few weeks ago, and it looks like an evolution from the previous version. The sedan looks premium as before and comes with many modern features that customers from this segment like. There is also the possibility that Skoda might not introduce the regular version and instead launch the Octavia RS iV plug-in hybrid version in limited numbers. The sedan is expected to be launched in the Indian market later this year.
All-new sub-4-meter SUV
The last car on this list is probably going to be the most important for Skoda. A few days ago, Skoda announced that they would be launching a sub-4-meter compact SUV in India to compete with the likes of Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, and Kia Sonet. The SUV will sit below the Kushaq and will have a name that starts with K and ends with Q. This all-new SUV is also based on the MQB A0 IN platform. The SUV will officially debut in the first half of 2025. Just like other Skoda models, the SUV is expected to be offered with petrol engine options only. The design of the SUV is expected to be similar to what we see in the Kushaq, Kodiaq, and other Skoda models. It will be the most affordable Skoda in the Indian market.
