Skybound unveils full lineup of Autobots in upcoming TRANSFORMERS series

0 51

Last week Skybound Entertainment announced they have acquired the rights to create comics based on Hasbro’s Transformers and G.I. Joe properties. Among the forthcoming titles in the Skybound “Energon Universe” is Transformers from acclaimed writer & artist Daniel Warren Johnson. This week Skybound has been teasing via social media the lineup of Autobots who will appear in the series, and today the publisher revealed the full line-up, which will include Optimus Prime, Ratchet, Cliffjumper, Arcee, and Wheeljack. Decepticons are set to be revealed next week.

Here’s how Skybound describes the forthcoming Transformers series:

Optimus Prime was supposed to have led the Autobots to victory. Instead, the fate of Cybertron is unknown, and his allies have crash-landed far from home, alongside their enemies—the Decepticons. As these titanic forces renew their war on Earth, one thing is immediately clear: the planet will never be the same. New alliances are struck. Battle lines are redrawn. And humanity’s only hope for survival is Optimus Prime.

The team shot of the Autobots is the latest piece of artwork revealed for the project. An illustration by Daniel Warren Johnson and colorist Mike Spicer of Optimus Prime was released as part of last week’s announcement.

Notably absent from the lineup is Jetfire, the Transformer who appeared out of the blue in last week’s Void Rivals #1. That appearance ended with Jetfire rocketing off of an unknown alien world, apparently headed for Cybertron. The fate of the Transformers’ home world will likely determine in what capacity Jetfire shows up in the new series.

Which Autobots are you surprised didn’t make the initial cut? And which Decepticons are you hoping to see revealed next week? Let us know in the comments, and keep an eye out for the Decepticon announcement next week.

Transformers #1 is due out from Image and Skybound in stores and digitally on Wednesday, October 4th.
