Smart People Buy The Maruti Invicto Instead Of Toyota Innova HyCross Hybrid: Here’s Why!
Toyota Kirloskar Motor India launched the Innova Hycross Hybrid MPV back in December of 2022. Ever since then, the car has seen strong demand from buyers in the country. Now, because of this, the Innova Hycross has a waiting period of more than 2 years, which to a lot of people is unacceptable. So if you are one of those people who wants a Toyota Innova Hycross but doesn’t want to wait for two years, what do you do? Well, if you’re a smart person, you can most definitely buy the all-new Maruti Suzuki Invicto. The Invicto is essentially a rebadged Hycross which you can get today and even get a discount on it.
Why can’t you get a Toyota Innova Hycross today?
In short, the answer is that there is an extremely high demand and very low supply of the Innova Hycross in the country. Currently, the company is receiving thousands of bookings every month and it cannot keep up with the production of this popular Hybrid MPV.
As per the sources, the top-spec variant of the Innova Hycross, which is the ZX(O) variant, has a waiting period of around 2 years. What is currently happening in the country is that some local dealerships and individuals are charging over Rs 3.5-4 lakh over the on-road price of this MPV. With this premium, they are willing to deliver the car to any state.
However, genuine Toyota customers are upset over the fact that these dealers have received the cars and are selling them at a premium but they have to wait for over two years to get the MPV. Also, at the moment, even if a person can get an Innova Hycross, there is no discount on the vehicle.
Smart people are buying the Maruti Suzuki Invicto instead!
Now this is where the Maruti Suzuki Invicto comes into play. At the moment, a lot of smart people are opting for the Maruti Suzuki Invicto in India. There are multiple reasons for this. The first one is that the Invicto is essentially a Toyota Innova Hycross which has been rebadged. But unlike the Hycross, there is not a long waiting period.
Currently, there are a number of Invictos available, and dealerships have them ready for delivery. Even if there are no Invictos available at some dealerships, the waiting period is considerably lower than that of the Innova Hycross.
What is also an advantage is that the company is offering a discount of Rs 75,000 on the Invicto as well (Here are the discount details). This discount, however, is available with the 2023 model year Invicto.
Are Innova Hycross and Invicto really the same?
The answer in short is yes. However, when looked into the details there are some differences. For instance, the exterior design including the front grille, bumper, and rear bumpers are slightly different in the Innova Hycross and Invicto. Additionally, on the inside, the color of the dashboard also differs between the two models.
As for the features, both get the same 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment systems with Android Auto and Apple Carplay. However, the Invicto only gets 6 speakers, while the Hycross gets a set of 9-speaker JBL premium sound system.
Apart from this on the interior, the Invicto gets the same captains chair in the middle row but misses out on Ottoman-style seats which the Hycross Hybrid gets. The Invicto also misses out on ADAS features.
As for the powertrain options, both cars come equipped with the same 2.0-litre petrol engine with a strong hybrid system developed by Toyota. This drivetrain produces a maximum power of 184 bhp and 209 Nm of torque.
Both cars come equipped with eCVT gearboxes and there is no option for a manual transmission with both. Lastly, the Invicto misses out on a petrol-only engine option which the Hycross gets. The non-hybrid Innova Hycross gets the same 2.0-litre petrol engine which makes 172 bhp of power and 209 Nm of torque.
