Sony is restoring PlayStation accounts it permanently banned yesterday

0 24

Yesterday, many people reported on Reddit and X that Sony had permanently suspended their account on the PlayStation Network without giving a warning or a reason. While the company hasn’t issued an official statement on the matter, The Verge reports that Sony has restored some of the accounts that it had permanently banned yesterday.

According to people, a notification saying “Access to PlayStation Network by this account has been permanently suspended due to violations of the PlayStation Network Terms of Service and User Agreement” popped up on the screen. After that, they could not access the PlayStation Store and the content they purchased from it or play games in the multiplayer mode. They have also not received any e-mail from Sony about the account suspension yet, which is something that Sony is required to do.

Sony’s customer support wasn’t helpful

Unfortunately for those people, there’s also no option for them to appeal to Sony to restore their account. Without any other option, they had to reach out to customer support, and reportedly, there was a long queue of people waiting to talk to the support executives. What’s even worse is that they were told to make a new account on the PlayStation Network, which meant that they would have to leave behind everything they purchased on the PlayStation Store and their progress in games.

People across the globe faced this issue yesterday and it doesn’t seem to have a pattern. Considering that, and the fact that there’s no word from Sony or any solid piece of information about why it happened, people suspect that their Playstation accounts might have been suspended because of a bug or a security issue at PlayStation Network. While The Verge reports that Sony has resorted some of the accounts it had banned yesterday, many people are still waiting for their issue to get resolved.
