Sophie Ellis-Bextor has yet to hit the number one spot since her song ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ experienced a resurgence thanks to ‘Saltburn’.

Now, the singer-songwriter has teamed up with electronic act PNAU for a new remix. PNAU are known for their remix of Elton John and Dua Lip’s ‘Cold Heart’. They also worked with Elton on his remix album ‘Good Morning to the Night’.

‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ was used in the final scene of Emerald Fennell’s ‘Saltburn’, which saw star Barry Keoghan dancing nude to the song. That resulted in the song, and the scene, going viral across social media. So far in 2024, ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ has clocked up over 140 million streams and charted for the first time in the Billboard Top 100.

As if that’s not enough, Ellis-Bextor has been invited to perform the track at next week’s BAFTAs.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor recently announced she would be releasing the song on 7” vinyl for the first time as a limited edition red 7” and will also release a limited-edition red CD single. Both are available to pre-order here released on 16th February through Polydor/Universal Music Recordings.

She also shared a 7-track ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ EP, featuring ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’alongside the original B-Side ‘Never Let Me Down’, the Extended Album Version and remixes from Jewels & Stone, Danny D, Hq and Twin Murder. All tracks were originally released in 2001 but the majority are brand new to streaming services.
