Sound check: Jason Derulo’s new single

0 21

Worth your time: Yes

It may be a pithy two-minute-10- second track, but Down brings the infallible David Guetta along with Jason Derulo. Part of the latter’s mammoth 27-track album Nu King—Derulo’s first in nine years—Down is seamlessly groovy and instantly reminiscent of Derulo’s past hits. And for that reason, the number, though catchy and worthy of a listen, isn’t likely to be a stand-out track in Derulo’s repertoire. It is likely, however, to be a frequent number at clubs and discotheques this season.

On top of my playlist: Vasuda Sharma

Bad guy by Billie Eilish:
I like the song’s effortlessness, especially that of the hook line; it’s catchy and addictive.

Lights up by Harry Styles:
The song’s pre-chorus section has an unpredictable change in the chords. I love that.

Bailgaadi by Sharma And The Besharams:
The track has a laid-back groove, and the lyrics are fun and quirky.

Shaabaashiyaan from Mission Mangal:
This song uplifts my spirit. I also love the hook line.

Tiny bit of sky by Blackstratblues:
I like how the number opens with Warren [Mendosa’s] baby’s voice, and then creates a chilled-out vibe.
