Britain’s Royal Mail will release 15 collectable stamps next week

Music fans in the U.K. will be able to spice up their mail next week when Royal Mail unveils a collection of 15 new postage stamps in celebration of the Spice Girls. Released for the British girl group’s 30 anniversary, the stamps showcase key moments in the band’s career.

This is the first time Royal Mail has dedicated an entire stamp issue to a female pop group. It also marks the sixth time a music group has featured in a dedicated stamp issue, following the Beatles in 2007, Pink Floyd in 2016, Queen in 2020, the Rolling Stones in 2022, and Iron Maiden in 2023.

The main set of 10 stamps features memorable images of group and individual live performances from 1997 to 2012, including the Spice Girls performing during the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games, Geri Halliwell performing at the BRIT Awards in 1997, and Victoria Beckham performing during the Return of the Spice Girls Tour at Madison Square Garden in 2008. The collection also includes a sheet of five stamps featuring individual images of the singers from their Spice World photoshoot.

“We are so excited to be celebrated by Royal Mail, alongside some of the most iconic and influential music legends,” Spice Girl said in a statement. “When we formed the Spice Girls we couldn’t have dreamt that 30 years later we would be the first female group to be dedicated an entire stamp collection, that’s Girl Power!”

The stamps are available for pre-order from today and will be released on Jan. 11. Fans can order limited edition stamp books, framed collectors sheets, and collectible envelopes along with the stamps themselves.

Spice Girls — Beckham, Halliwell, Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm, and Emma Bunton — formed in 1994 and became the biggest girl group of all time, selling more than 100 million records worldwide. Their debut single “Wannabe” dropped in 1996 and went on to release three hit albums and the 1997 film Spice World. The group last reunited in 2019 for a reunion tour that traveled throughout the U.K., with all but Beckham on board.
