Starfield Royal Galaxy mod brings major changes to every corner of the universe

0 37

Even though there’s already a wealth of awesome mods available for Starfield, it’s still slim pickings in terms of substantial gameplay changes and revamps. Thanks to modder JaeDL, however, that problem too, is now partially resolved with the new Royal Galaxy mod.

The fact that Starfield‘s Creation Kit modding tools are not out yet keeps the game’s modding community focused on simple tweaks, retexture mods, and configuration changes, instead of adding entirely new gear, features, and mechs. That hasn’t stopped JaeDL from trying their best to bump things up a notch for Starfield, though, and the end result is Royal Galaxy — over 40 disparate mods and fixes bundled into one comprehensive, streamlined plugin.

Revamping Starfield from tip to toe

From the looks of things, JaeDL is nothing if not thorough, and their Royal Galaxy mod documentation outlines the mod’s purpose: to upgrade Starfield in every possible way. “Royal Galaxy is intended to make the game as fun as humanly possible with an open world that is worth exploring,” notes JaeDL.

According to the modder, Royal Galaxy is “compatible with everything,” and the bundle is only the first of many to come. That’s why some promotional materials include the ‘Series One’ blurb, as other “Series” are planned later down the line, allowing players to pick and choose which bundles they wish to play Starfield with.

Broadly, here is a very inexhaustive list of new content, changes, and improvements included in the Starfield Royal Galaxy mod:

  • Complete economy overhaul
  • Combat rebalancing
  • Terrormorph changes (closer in functionality to Skyrim‘s dragons)
  • Mission, chest, and loot improvements
  • More credits for vendors
  • Improved weapon handling and balance
  • Starborn combat improvements
  • Creature behavior and spawn changes (some animals now form families, for example)
  • Weather pattern improvements

And many, many more. If you’re interested in learning more about Royal Galaxy’s in-depth changes, we recommend going through that mod documentation list. The gist of it, though, is that virtually everything about Starfield is tweaked to some extent. Whether those changes are slight or major, Royal Galaxy makes this process rather easy.

Infinity and Beyond?

JaeDL notes that, even though many of Royal Galaxy’s bundled mods are exclusive to the plugin, they will be working on separate, standalone releases for those who are a bit more picky. Of course, not all of the changes included in Royal Galaxy are from JaeDL, and they made sure to include a list of credits at the bottom of the mod’s Nexus page.

As thrilling as this might be, remember Bethesda is still updating Starfield. The developer aims to update the game every six weeks or so in 2024, and that’s before accounting for major content additions, such as the upcoming Shattered Space DLC. In other words, as impressive as Royal Galaxy already might be, those who install it ought to be prepared for the eventuality that things will break as Bethesda keeps updating Starfield, and JaeDL will need to continuously keep updating the bundle to keep it going.
