Still hospitalized with mystery condition

Whatever has been going on with Jamie Foxx the past three weeks, people close to him have raised an alarm by revealing that he remains hospitalized. They’ve also asked fans to “Pray for Jamie.”

Citing sources close to the 55-year-old Academy Award winner, TMZ reported early Wednesday that he needs “all the prayers and well-wishes his fans can muster” as he continues to be treated at a hospital in Atlanta. TMZ also said that Foxx’s condition remains a tightly guarded “secret.”

Foxx’s fans first learned that the prolific actor, singer and comedian was dealing with a health catastrophe on April 12, when his daughter, Corinne Foxx, announced on social media that he had suffered “a medical complication” the day before, on April 11. Then, as now, Corinne Fox did not share details on what caused the emergency, but insisted that “due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery.”

CNN and other outlets reported last month that Foxx had been in Atlanta finishing up production on his latest film, “Back in Action,” co-starring Cameron Diaz.  He was photographed on April 10, looking in good health, while filming a scene with Diaz and Glenn Close, in which he appeared to be coaching a women’s soccer team.

CNN reported that Foxx’s medical issue didn’t happen on the set and he was not transported by an emergency vehicle to the hospital. TMZ also reported at the time that Foxx’s condition was serious enough that family members flew in to be by his side, though the actor was also reportedly joking with them.

Over the weeks, reports have emerged that have been meant to offer reassurance that Foxx is on the mend, but that could be read in different ways. A few days after Foxx’s hospitalization, a source told People  that “he’s steadily improving.” On April 24, TV host Nick Cannon told Entertainment Tonight that his friend is “awake,” the Daily Beast reported. Cannon said he’s heard that Foxx is “alert, so we love it.”

TMZ reported early Wednesday that Corinne Foxx has continued to be “a fixture” by her father’s side, while also saying that neither she nor her father will appear in the next season of “Beat Shazam,” the music lyric game show. Production for the upcoming season of the popular Fox-TV show was supposed to begin days before Foxx was hospitalized.

Indeed, Foxx’s medical issue has sent Hollywood studios “scrambling,” TMZ said. His IMDB page shows that he has a number of acting and producing projects that are in development or that are in post-production. TMZ reported that production on “Back in Action” had to continue with Foxx’s double being used to film some scenes.
