Infinix announces 180W Thunder Charge: coming to a flagship later this year

Infinix teased its upcoming 180W Thunder Charge system earlier this week, now the company has revealed more details about it. Unlike the 160W Ultra Fast Charge system we saw last year (which was just a concept), Thunder Charge is coming to the market later this year – it will make its debut on a yet to be named flagship phone. The goal for the new 180W charger is to get a 4,500mAh battery to 50% charge in just four minutes. Like on the Infinix Note 12 VIP there will be a Furious Mode, which charges at maximum speed,…

Infinix, a Hong Kong smartphone brand formed in 2013, is slowly bringing its phones to the West. We were impressed with the value offered by the Infinix Note 12 G96 when we reviewed it recently, but it looks like Infinix’s next phones will boast the fastest charging speeds in the world when they debut later this year. In a press release, Infinix said its 180W Thunder Charge can charge a…

Infinix 180W fast charging tech unveiled, will debut on upcoming flagship phone

In a press release on Thursday, Infinix said that its 180W Thunder Charge uses batteries with a charging rate of 8C as opposed to most other smartphones that use batteries with rates of 1 to 3C. The 8C rating reduces the chances of battery overheating due to the fast charging technology, the company claims. Additionally, 180W Thunder Charge uses two 8C-rated batteries in series, so each battery charges only at 90W which reduces heat and increases longevity.Infinix says that the 180W Thunder Charge tech has 111 software…

Infinix teases 180W Thunder Charge system

Last year we tested a concept phone from Infinix with a 160W fast charging system. The company has continued working on battery tech since then and has pushed the charge rate even higher. Here is a quick teaser video posted by CEO Benjamin Jiang. Infinix calls this new system “Thunder Charge” and based on the onscreen label, it has a peak power rating of 180W. The clip is only around 10 seconds long but the battery indicator goes up by nearly a full percentage point. So, how fast is Thunder Charge?…

Infinix has teased a new fast charging technology via a small clip on Facebook. The company is calling it Thunder Charge System and it is rated at 180W — the fastest charging speed that Infinix has achieved yet. Other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) such as OnePlus and Realme are already shipping their smartphones with support for up to 150W charging. In fact, Vivo sub-brand iQoo is also said to be preparing to launch the rumoured iQoo 10 Pro with support for 200W charging technology.Infinix Co-founder Benjamin…
