AMD Ryzen 7 7700X vs. Intel Core i5-14600K: best $300 CPU?

Jacob Roach / Digital Trends If you want a midrange processor in 2024, two of the best options available are AMD’s Ryzen 7 7700X and Intel’s Core i5-14600K. These $300-ish processors offer lots of cores for high performance computing and gaming, as well as 5GHz+ clock speeds. They aren’t quite as powerful as the very top chips, but they are still blazingly fast, and have more modest power demands than their higher-end siblings. But which is the best? If you’re looking to buy or build a new PC in 2024, one of these…

AMD’s Ryzen 7 7700X and 9 7900X Review: Anything But Mid-Tier

Photo: Damien Gula / GizmodoIn case the leaks and lofty presentations that dropped over the summer did not make it clear enough, AMD’s newly released Zen 4 platform is aiming to compete with Intel for the title of World’s Fastest Gaming CPU. With claims of higher power delivery per watt, an improved architecture, astronomical increases in single core performance, and continued dominance in the multicore arena, the Ryzen 7000 series has a myriad of legendary promises to live up to.Do the chips live up to the hype?AMD Ryzen

Ryzen 7 7700X vs. Intel Core i7-12700K

Looking for a CPU upgrade for your gaming machine? We’ve got some good news: AMD’s Ryzen 7000 Zen 4 CPUs are set to deliver significant boosts in performance compared to the previous generation and long-awaited support upgrades for the latest connections. The Ryzen 7 7700X chip, in particular, looks like an excellent combination between a performance upgrade and affordability. But that also sets it against the similarly priced Intel Core i7 12700K — a chip from the 12th-generation Alder Lake series Intel released in…

Ryzen 7 7700X Edges Past Core i9-12900K In New Benchmark

AMD's Ryzen 7000 (Raphael) processors with Zen 4 cores will hit the retail market on September 27. However, someone got their hands on a retail Ryzen 7 7700X and put the octa-core chip through its paces in CPU-Z.The Ryzen 7 7700X submission is no longer available (opens in new tab), but lucky for us, hardware detective Tum_Apisak (opens in new tab) has grabbed screenshots of the results. The Ryzen 7 7700X bested the Core i5-12600K by 1% in single-threaded performance. It couldn't catch up to the Core i7-12700K, though.…

AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 32% Faster Than 5800X in Unverified Cinebench Test

An AMD Ryzen 7 7700X is the latest CPU benchmarked in Cinebench R20 by Chinese leaker Extreme Player. The upcoming Ryzen 7000 chip appears to perform 23% better than the Ryzen 7 5800X in the 1T test, and 32% faster in the multithreaded test. Note that this is an unverified leak, and the tester admits the Ryzen chip is an Engineering Sample (which seems correct based on the CPU image), so things could get better by launch/availability. The alleged 7700X (codename: Raphael) chip will feature AMD's latest Zen 4 cores and be…

Ryzen 7 7700X Zen 4 CPU Qualifying Sample Spotted Online

Ryzen 7000's release window is right around the corner, and pictures of qualifying samples of AMD's new Zen 4 processors have started to surface. A Ryzen 7 7700X qualifying sample was posted on the AnandTech forums (originally posted on Chinese social networking site Baidu Tieba). Twitter user SkyJuice66 commented on the image, noting the "D" lettering at the bottom of the integrated heat spreader (IHS) denotes this unit as a qualifying sample (not made for the retail market). This suggests AMD is still tweaking its…
