Nearly 80% of venture funds raised in just two states as US LPs retreat to the coasts

Venture capital funds in the United States raised more dry powder in the first three quarters of this year than they did in all of 2021, but it’s not equally distributed: The big funds keep getting bigger while fundraising has gotten harder for the majority of other players. And Q3 data shows that where a firm is based appears to be playing an increasing role. Here’s why heartland states lag behind the coasts on EV adoption

Retail sales of EVs have yet to fully take off in the US heartland states, according to new analysis from S&P Global Mobility. How come? This is also the third time since records began in the 1940s that there were no named storms in the Atlantic, according to E&E News. This was despite the fact that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicted an above-average Atlantic hurricane season back in May.Hurricane Danielle began forming in late August and churned…

East Coast’s Busiest Seaport Gets New Leadership as Shipping Challenges Mount

When Bethann Rooney first set her sights on running the Port of New York and New Jersey nearly a decade ago, the main U.S. East Coast gateway for seaborne imports was struggling to handle some 5.4 million containers a year. Now, the onetime deck cadet on cargo-carrying vessels has taken over operations at a port that is swamped by almost twice as many boxes moving through its tightly packed docks, one sign of the bottlenecks across distribution channels that have clogged U.S. supply chains and hamstrung the American…

A Pedestrian A-List Action Comedy Coasts by on Disney Plus

What happens when you take a proven and talented filmmaker capable of excelling in virtually any genre, pair him up with a pair of A-list superstars, and throw them into a globetrotting blockbuster romantic action comedy full of glamorous locations and beautiful people? Well, in the case of Knight and Day, not much of note. That isn’t to say the breezy caper is an abject failure of a motion picture, but it could have been a great deal more. Instead, the undeniable chemistry and charisma of leads Tom Cruise and Cameron…
