A ‘Doom’ mobile game from 2005 is now playable on Windows

A dedicated group of fans has excavated a Doom mobile game from the sands of time and made it playable again. You won't find 2005's Doom RPG on the App Store or Play Store: it actually predates iOS and Android by a couple of years. And while Fountainhead Entertainment looked into bringing Doom RPG to Nintendo DS around the time of its original release, the game was exclusively available on Java- and BREW-compatible handsets. Until now. A small group of developers in Costa Rica going by the name of GEC.inc reverse…

So many changes have happened in the cosmos, on our planet, and through evolution to create the world we know today. One of the most recent major changes, relatively speaking, was the K-Pg extinction, the mass death of the dinosaurs and many other creatures in the immediate aftermath of an asteroid impact 66 million years.01:57Rainn Wilson’s First Fandoms: Star Trek And D&DYesterday 4:32PMThe

Elon Musk’s Tesla home-working move could spell doom for Twitter employees

Tesla CEO and prospective Twitter owner Elon Musk has written to employees of the electric car maker to say that working from home is no longer an option — they have to work a minimum of 40 hours per week from a Tesla office. In an email seen on Twitter, Musk tells Tesla workers that the 40-hour minimum is "less than we ask of factory workers" while going on to say that people will need to work from a main Tesla office, not a "remote branch office unrelated to the job duties" being performed. There was some hope,…

‘Firestarter’ Reviews Spell Doom For The Hyped Stephen King Adaptation

The reviews are in for Firestarter, and they are pretty brutal. Firestarter is the highly anticipated screen adaption of the eponymous Stephen King novel. The film was highly anticipated, but when no reviews of the film were published a week before the film’s release, fans sensed that something was amiss. Now the reviews are in and, despite the buildup, Firestarter is being universally panned by critics. Noel Murray of The Los Angeles Times wrote that the film failed to translate the richness and complexity of King’s…

Doctor Doom teams up with other Doctor Dooms to fight the Avengers

There are some ideas in comics that are as original as they are inevitable. When Jonathan Hickman and Dale Eaglesham introduced the Council of Reeds, an interdimensional body composed entirely of different Mister Fantastics, it was both a surprise and retrospectively obvious. Of course the super-intelligent science god Reed Richards would seek peer cooperation with his own multiversal selves. In his Avengers, Jason Aaron has riffed mightily on that utterly comic book idea of cooperation between parallel selves, first…

Children’s author Simon James Green: ‘I just wanted to show LGBT+ kids that it’s not all doom and gloom’ | Children and teenagers

A few weeks after he was banned from visiting a London school by the Catholic church, Simon James Green was confronted with an array of protest paraphernalia. The author, whose stories for young adults have been applauded for reflecting the upside, as well as the angst, of queer teen lives, was at an awards ceremony in Bristol. Members of a local school’s LGBT+ society had made banners and leaflets proclaiming their solidarity, and denouncing “kids in Catholic school locked in the closet”.“It was so touching, so all-round…
