6 do’s and don’ts for search marketers

You’ve probably used Looker Studio (formerly Google Data Studio) to create reports for stakeholders or clients.  I had the pleasure of seeing SearchLab’s Greg Gifford present on “Freddy Krueger’s Guide to Scary Good Reporting” recently. He spoke about ways to improve your Looker Studio reporting to make it more useful for clients.  Below are key learnings from Gifford’s session in the form of do’s and don’ts, plus some examples of data visualizations that search marketers will find most helpful. 1. Don’t enter…

Dos Luces Brewery in Denver to close summer 2023

A Denver brewery is planning to close later this summer after what the owner calls a “tough five years” brewing and serving beer in the Mile High City. Judd Belstock, owner and founder of Dos Luces Brewery, announced the closure via social media Monday, and while he doesn’t have a firm closing date, he plans to celebrate the business’ fifth anniversary on July 29 before closing up shop. Belstock’s decision comes several months after a car crashed into Dos Luces’ storefront at 1236 S. Broadway in Denver. “The car crashing…

The dos and don’ts of location sharing

It’s easy to say “yes” when an app or website asks for your location data just to get past the pop-up and back to scrolling, but it pays to be thoughtful about who you share it with and why. More often than not, it's more information than apps and websites really need to know about you. Like other kinds of personal information, location data is presented by companies as a trade-off: consumers willingly expose where they are, usually for a more convenient user experience; the companies in turn gather crucial intel about…

Those who join LinkedIn do so with a certain goal in mind. Mega Man 3 for DOS is easily the worst Mega Man 3 – Destructoid

The Destructoid Institute of Critiquing Kusoge Here at the Destructoid Institute of Critiquing Kusoge (DICK), we attempt to be thorough when categorizing games. Hyperbole is avoided when possible, so we don’t make it a habit of using phrases like “worst game of all time.” With that said, “Mega Man 3” is the worst Mega Man 3 of all time. You might have heard that some people claim that Mega Man 3 is the best Mega Man game in the series. Not only are those people wrong, but they are also wrong. I’ve never personally been…

A representative from Dos Luces could not immediately be reached for comment on the extent of the damage. “While we were lucky that no one was inside at the time, we are concerned for those who were in the…

Back To Basics, Part Dos: Linear Regression, Cost Function, and Gradient Descent | by Shreya Rao | Feb, 2023

Welcome to the second part of our Back To Basics series. In the first part, we covered how to use Linear Regression and Cost Function to find the best-fitting line for our house prices data. However, we also saw that testing multiple intercept values can be tedious and inefficient. In this second part, we’ll delve deeper into Gradient Descent, a powerful technique that can help us find the perfect intercept and optimize our model. We’ll explore the math behind it and see how it can be applied to our linear regression…

Event Studies for Causal Inference: The Dos and Don’ts | by Nazlı Alagöz | Dec, 2022

A guide to avoiding the common pitfalls of event studiesPhoto by Ricardo Gomez Angel on UnsplashEvent studies are useful tools in the context of causal inference. They are used in quasi-experimental situations. In these situations, the treatment is not randomly assigned. Thus, in contrast to randomized experiments (i.e., A/B tests), one cannot rely on a simple comparison of the means between groups to make causal inferences. In these types of situations, event studies are very useful.Event studies are also frequently used…
