What does it take to get a hotel built in Morrison? Chad Wallace wants to be the first to find out. So far, the principal of Evergreen-based Root Architecture and Development can safely say eight meetings with the planning commission, one (unsuccessful) public hearing, a petition to appeal, hours-long discussions with the Board of Trustees and much more. “We’re going to keep pushing forward,” Wallace said. Morrison has a population of about 400 and is tucked near Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre, a major attraction. But…

A guide to downtown Los Angeles

If Los Angeles is a city in flux — a place with an ever-shifting center that’s home to many a transplant and is sometimes too eager to favor the new — then perhaps no neighborhood better embodies our town than downtown. Once the beating heart of the region, downtown has survived multiple eras of ups and downs, and remains a place in constant transformation. To live in downtown — I have been a resident of the area for nearly 15 years — is not only to confront the fantasy of Los Angeles but also to come face to…

White Paper BBQ will soon be in a new home, moving to downtown Loveland after years along West U.S. 34. And while the new building is undergoing work, the restaurant’s owner will keep things moving out of a food truck parked out front. Pitmaster and Owner Jim Rowan initially opened the restaurant above Berthoud Brewing Company in west Loveland in late 2021, serving up a series of smoked meats and accompanying sides. Rowan said that the last three years have gone great. “All we have done is grow,” he said. “Our customer…

The global firm’s office in Denver manages about $4 billion in assets and has about 100 employees, said Chris Crawford, who heads the team’s work in Colorado. “We focus on a full suite of products: acquisitions, development and asset management,”…

Taggers sprayed graffiti on at least 27 floors of a partially completed downtown Los Angeles skyscraper directly across from Crypto.com Arena at LA Live, which is planning to roll out the red carpet for Sunday’s Grammy Awards. It’s unclear how the taggers gained access to the massive Oceanside Plaza site, a $1-billion mixed-use project on Figueroa Street and has been stalled since 2019. Street photographer Daron Burgundy told KTLA-TV that that taggers had been busy spray painting the structure for the past three nights.…
