LG creates world’s 1st high-resolution display that stretches by 20%

Image Source : LG LG LG Display has unveiled the world's first 12-inch high-resolution display which is capable to stretch by up to 20 per cent and is equipped with outstanding free-form technology that enables it to be extended, folded and twisted without distortion or damage. The new display further offers a resolution of 100ppi (pixels per inch), full-colour RGB,…

Sony’s high-resolution A7R V mirrorless camera now shoots 8K video

Sony has launched the $3,900 A7R V, its latest mirrorless camera designed to shoot portraits, landscapes and other subjects that require as much resolution as possible. The new model carries the same 61-megapixel resolution as the A7R IV, but has a much more powerful new Bionz XR processor that allows for improved AI autofocus, better shake reduction and 8K 24p video.  The key improvement is in the autofocus, as the A7R V is Sony's first camera to introduced something called "human pose estimation." The system can see 20…

How this NASA mission could get a high-resolution image of an exoplanet

One of the most exciting aspects of the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) is its ability to image and gather information about exoplanets. But while JWST will give us tons of information about these celestial bodies, there’s something that it can’t do: take a high-resolution image of an earth-like exoplanet — specifically, an image where we can clearly see evidence of possible life on another world, such as land masses, clouds, and bodies of water.   Slava Turyshev of the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory is working on a…

Scaling Spherical Deep Learning to High-Resolution Input Data | by Jason McEwen | Sep, 2022

Scattering networks on the sphere for scalable and rotationally equivariant spherical CNNsConventional spherical CNNs are not scalable to high resolution classification tasks. In this post we present spherical scattering layers — a novel spherical layer that reduces the dimensionality of the input data while retaining relevant information, while also being rotationally equivariant. Scattering networks work by employing predefined convolutional filters from wavelet analysis rather than learning convolutional filters from…

High-resolution images of Samsung Galaxy Watch 5, Galaxy Watch 5 Pro leak

Samsung just can’t plug the leaks. Ahead of the next Galaxy Unpacked 2022 event, images of all the upcoming products from the company have been leaked. Last week, we saw high-resolution renders of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and the Galaxy Z Fold 4. Today, high-resolution images of the Galaxy Watch 5 and the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro have leaked. Legendary leakster Evan Blass (also known as @evleaks) has published images of the Galaxy Watch 5 and the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro on 91Mobiles. The Galaxy Watch 5 can be seen in Bora Purple, (Pink)…

Fiio M5 High-Resolution Audio Player Review

If you've decided to get started on the audiophile path, your smartphone and basic headphones won't be the ideal kit. This hobby can be a particularly expensive one, but it is possible to set up a starter audiophile kit for not a lot of money. That involves procuring devices that offer bang for your buck, such as the excellent Fiio M6. If you're looking at something even more affordable though, there's the Fiio M5.Priced at Rs. 8,990, the Fiio M5 is smaller, easier to handle, and better suited for the beginner audiophile.…

Swiss Researchers Develop Technique That Can Produce High-Resolution 3D Images of Cells

The microscopic world of cells is incredibly important but tricky to understand in detail. Studying living cells at the nanoscale helps us understand the causes of disease but traditional approaches are filled with risks of damaging these cells themselves. Researchers at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) have developed a new technique that allows scientists to build high-definition 3D images of cells inside and out. This, the researchers hope, will offer insights into how the cells interact within…

Explaining AI for High-Resolution Images | by Joseph Early | Jun, 2022

AI can be used to make automated decisions based on high-resolution images, but can we understand those decisions? In this article, I discuss how interpretable multiple instance learning can be used to tackle this problem.Satellite data is one example of high-resolution imagery. Photo by NASA on Unsplash.Modern computer vision datasets can contain millions of images. However, these images are often small in size. For example, in ImageNet , the average image is only 469 x 387 pixels. But what if each image is over 10,000 x…
