A Turgid Crime Thriller With a Peculiar Cast Hijacks the Streaming Charts

via Lionsgate Recent history is littered with crime thrillers that gather together a bevvy of recognizable names and drop them into a convoluted scheme predicated on scoring a lucrative job that inevitably goes awry, but you’d be hard-pressed to find one that boasts a more peculiar and altogether bizarre ensemble than 2015’s Heist. The story is about as formulaic as it gets, and understandably came under fire for being a brazen ripoff of Speed, with a father struggling to find the money to fund his daughter’s…

A Sorely Underrated Dystopian Gem Hijacks the Collective Consciousness

via Village Roadshow Pictures Tales of dystopian terror can be told through the lens of action, drama, science fiction, or even romance when the occasion calls for it. Not many have been elevated into genuine classic territory, though, but supporters of 1992’s Fortress are nonetheless stating the case for the underappreciated gem that’s largely been lost to the sands of time. Directed by Re-Animator‘s Stuart Gordon, Christopher Lambert and Loryn Locklin star as John and Karen Brennick, a happily-married couple…

American adults also have trouble sleeping, with 70% of adults reporting they get insufficient sleep at least one night a month, according to the American Sleep Apnea Association.…

Brain cancer may be rare, but glioblastoma (also known as glioblastoma multiforme or GBM) accounts for around 15 percent of brain tumors. The aggressive cancer is well known within the medical field due to being one of the most dangerous cancers around. Now, scientists may better understand why GBM is so dangerous. A Deadly Cancer Hijacks the Brain to Render Itself Untreatable, Study Finds

Image: Shutterstock (Shutterstock)New research this week suggests that an aggressive brain cancer can hijack the brain’s own circuitry to further spread and render itself unstoppable. Researchers in Germany studied glioblastoma cells in mice and in the lab, finding that these tumors use some of the same mechanisms behind normal neuron development and migration to systematically invade the brain. The research may one day allow scientists to develop better treatments for the almost always fatal condition.Though brain cancer
