Apple iPhone captures 25% market share in Samsung’s homeland

Apple has been giving Samsung a tough fight in the global smartphone market. And for the first time ever, last year, Apple shipped more iPhones annually than Samsung did. According to a new report from Counterpoint Research, Apple's smartphone market share breached the 25% mark in South Korea for the first time. Its market share has been increasing by 1% point every year…

Melting Point by Rachel Cockerell review – the hunt for a homeland | History books

When she started work on this fabulous book about her family, Rachel Cockerell was most intrigued by her grandmother Fanny and great aunt Sonia, who “raised children together in a giant, Edwardian north London house in the 1940s”. She envisaged only a few sentences about their father, David Jochelmann, who brought them over from Kyiv at the start of the first world war and lived in the same house until he died in 1941. But although the family remembered him only as a “businessman”, research soon revealed a fascinating…

Apple Watches offering Pay in Samsung’s homeland is a hollow victory

Last updated: April 17th, 2023 at 12:22 UTC+02:00 Samsung might not be in a rush to bring the Pay platform to Galaxy Watch customers in South Korea. Although the company will likely react to Apple’s recent release of its own Pay platform, Samsung doesn’t seem to have any immediate plans to allow Galaxy Watch users to make NFC payments. Homeland Security Cops to Manufacturing Terrorists for Trump

Photo: Associated Press (AP)The Department of Homeland Security launched a failed operation that ensnared hundreds, if not thousands, of U.S. protesters in what new documents show was as a sweeping, power-hungry effort before the 2020 election to bolster President Donald Trump’s spurious claims about a “terrorist organization” he accused his Democratic rivals of supporting. An internal investigative report, made public this month by Sen. Ron Wyden, a Democrat of Oregon, details the findings of DHS lawyers concerning a
