Irving St. last week for $1.48 million, or about $106 per square foot. It had been listed at $1.75 million. The buyer was Mounashram Inc., a faith-based nonprofit. Attempts to reach the organization were unsuccessful. Proposed Roxborough “Nordic spa” faces opposition from neighbors, golf course

A Canadian developer planning to build a warm-water attraction next to Arrowhead Golf Course in Douglas County has received a cold reception from neighbors, including the course operator. “A commercial development in this neighborhood would be a colossal disaster. Not just for the wildlife, but for the people who live here,” said Bridget Epp, 64, who’s lived in the community for eight years. Epp is a leader of the local “Save our Rox” group, which for the last three years has been pushing back against plans to develop a…

An annual cryptocurrency and blockchain convention that will kick off its 2024 event Feb. 23, is suing the Denver trade show company that managed its 2023 convention. ETHDenver, which featured Gov. But behind the scenes, a dispute arose that is still playing out in court one year later. Coast to Coast Trade Show Services, a Denver company, sued ETHDenver in December, accusing it of not…

Investor can Solera National Bank’s records over jet use, judge says

A local shareholder will examine the internal records of a single-branch bank in Lakewood to determine whether its chairman squandered the bank’s profits on a fleet of aircraft that he used to travel to Denver Nuggets games, where he became known as the “Red Pant Man.” In an oral ruling Feb. 6 that took more than an hour to read, Delaware Chancery Court Judge Bonnie David decided that Rob Salazar can inspect certain records of Solera Bank. “I am convinced that the (bank) board’s decision not to pay a dividend in 2020,…

Ana Fanakra sat in her bakery on the 16th Street Mall on what turned out to be its last day in business, Feb. 3, waiting for customers. But not many came, and she decided to close up early. “We had really low sales that day,” she said. “We hadn’t even made $100 yet, which was a very accurate picture of what the last couple of months looked like for us.” The next day, she decided to call it quits, closing both the original location of Ana’s Norwegian Bakeri, which opened in Centennial in June 2021, and the downtown bakery,…

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — Astronomers have discovered what may be the brightest object in the universe, a quasar with a black hole at its heart growing so fast that it swallows the equivalent of a sun a day. The record-breaking quasar shines 500 trillion times brighter than our sun.
