Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Director Wants to Make Cal Kestis’ Story a Trilogy

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is still over a month away from launch, but that hasn't stopped developers Respawn Entertainment from considering a trilogy. Speaking to IGN, director Stig Asmussen revealed that he would like to see Jedi Knight Cal Kestis' (Cameron Monaghan) arc stretched to a third and final title. While its possibility depends on how well this upcoming game performs, he claims that sequel discussions were happening before even 2019's Jedi: Fallen Order was out. If a threequel is greenlit, Asmussen stated that…

The Black Series Action Figures

Image: HasbroTen years ago, Hasbro announced something akin to a disturbance in the Force—and Star Wars toy fans’ wallets: The Black Series, a brand new line that would bump the iconic heroes and villains of the galaxy far, far away up to 6" scale for the first time (and away from the 3.75" scale Star Wars changed the game with).Since then, countless characters from movies, games, comics, streaming shows, and more have made their way onto our desks and shelves—classic heroes like Han, Luke, and Leia;all-new ones still

Cameron Monaghan Talks Cal Kestis’ Story in Jedi Survivor

Image: Respawn/EA/LucasfilmDuring the late 2010s, when it seemed like Star Wars video games would become more notable for their controversies rather than the games themselves, Respawn Entertainment released Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. That game resonated with audiences that it both let EA create more Star Wars games (and other studios take a stab at the property), and guaranteed a sequel in the form of Jedi Survivor.Ahead of its gameplay trailer at the Game Awards earlier in the week, actor Cameron Monaghan (who plays

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s Cameron Monaghan: This Is A “Darker Time” For Cal Kestis

After being officially revealed at Star Wars Celebration earlier this year, the first gameplay trailer for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor--the next Star Wars adventure from EA and Respawn Entertainment--aired during The Game Awards, with lead Jedi Cal Kestis taking center stage. The trailer showed off some of the older Cal's new abilities, including a grappling hook for improved traversal and a new fighting stance that incorporates dual lightsabers for an extra edge. Multiple friends and foes also appear in the…

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor star teases a darker’ Cal Kestis

When we first met Cal Kestis in 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, he was just a young Padawan. A redheaded kid draped in an unflattering poncho, Cal would grow into a full-blown Jedi by the end of the game. It was a classic Star Wars arc in video game form, but one that left players wanting more. It’s great that we got to see that growth, but who could resist the idea of a sequel where his newly awakened powers would be fully unleashed? Cameron Monaghan, who reprises his role as Cal in next year’s Star Wars…

Cal Kestis’ new gun might be a problem for Jedi: Survivor – Destructoid

I’ve got a bad feeling about this Why don’t Jedi use guns? Obi-Wan Kenobi would tell you it’s because they’re too uncivilized. Some very smart media critics would tell you it has something to do with the symbolic importance of the saber in the Campbellian Hero’s Journey. A business analyst might tell you that $200 lightsabers sell too well at Disneyland. I have a different theory, though. I think the Jedi leave their blasters at home because sword fighting is just a lot cooler. Now, evidence is mounting that in the…

Cameron Monaghan Knows ‘Star Wars’ Fans Want To See Cal Kestis In Live-Action, But Probably Isn’t Allowed To Say Anything…

In 2019 Cameron Monaghan lent his talent to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The video game was a hit, and, since then, there have been calls among fans for Monaghan’s Cal Kestis to jump to live-action work. He says he knows there’s interest in seeing the Order 66 survivor debut on the big screen, but, unsurprisingly, is either unwilling or unable to say anything further. The 28-year-old talked about the character during an interview with Screen Rant to promote new project Paradise Highway. If Monaghan knows…

Survivor’ protagonist will reportedly be Cal Kestis

Cal Kestis will reportedly return as the playable protagonist in the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sequel. Last week, it was reported that the Jedi: Fallen Order sequel – which is currently being developed by Respawn Entertainment – will be named Jedi: Survivor. This led to speculation about whether or not the Order 66 survivor, Cal Kestis, will return once again or if a new character will be introduced. However, journalist Jeff Grubb, who also leaked the name of the sequel, said on his latest episode of GamesBeat that…
