Ne-Yo on 20th Anniversary of Mario’s “Let Me Love You” – The Hollywood Reporter

Before Ne-Yo became a household name, the budding performer was working tirelessly as a songwriter behind the scenes, and his breakthrough came in the form of then-16-year-old singer Mario. Released in October 2004, Ne-Yo wrote “Let Me Love You” for Mario’s sophomore album Turning Point — the follow-up to his hit “Just a Friend 2002” — and the smooth R&B track became an international hit. It topped the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 chart for nine weeks and spent 11 weeks on top of the Hot…

Super Mario RPG review: Mario’s big year continues

Nintendo may have a conflicted relationship with its history, but if there’s one thing the company loves, it’s selling you classic games over and over again. I’ve honestly lost count of the number of platforms on which I own games like Super Metroid and Super Mario Bros. 3. That lack of attention from Nintendo is part of what makes Super Mario RPG such a curiosity — and its new remake on the Switch such a welcome sight. In 1996, Nintendo teamed up with Final Fantasy maker Square Enix (then known as Squaresoft) to craft a…

The MCU Embarrassment Continues as ‘Quantumania’ Proves Kang Is a Worse Villain Than ‘Super Mario’s Bowser

Image via Marvel Studios/Universal Pictures Kang the Conqueror was supposed to trump Thanos as MCU’s next big bad who would make the Snap seem like child’s play. But so far, his debut has remained lackluster thanks to Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania‘s dull presentation of the character, something that certainly didn’t get better with the latest allegations against Jonathan Majors. And now even the poorly received Super Mario Bros. Movie is confirming that its villain, Bowser, also manages to shine when…

Nintendo’s Miyamoto says smartphones won’t ever be Mario’s primary platform

On the eve of the launch of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, the pudgy plumber's days on smartphones may be dwindling. In an interview with Variety, celebrated Nintendo designer Shigeru Miyamoto said that "mobile apps will not be the primary path of future Mario games." Instead, he said, the company's strategy going forward is a "hardware and software integrated gaming experience."  Miyamoto's remarks aren't too surprising, considering that the last Mario game on mobile, Dr. Mario World, was pulled from the market just two…

We’ll Be Getting Our Next Cursed Look at the ‘Super Marios Bros. Movie’ This Week

Remember when Nintendo dropped the first trailer for the Super Marios Bros. Movie and it actually looked amazing but nobody could get past Chris Pratt’s accent? Well, we’re in for more of that because there’s another trailer on the way. Nintendo announced that it will be doing a Nintendo Direct on Nov. 28, which will feature the aforementioned trailer where we’ll surely get more Pratt than we need. Seriously, he’s in everything it’s enough already. We’re also treated to a screenshot purportedly from the movie that…

McDonald’s Leak May Have Revealed Mario’s Weird Movie Face

We recently found out that Mario's backside is looking slightly deflated in the Super Mario Bros. movie, but it seems that his front isn't looking great, either. A leak from an apparent McDonald's employee in streamer ConnorEatsPants' Discord has shown us Mario's new movie face, and it's looking a bit weird.Video game movies have often played around with the design of well-known characters, and it appears that Mario is no exception. Though the general idea of Mario is still present, his arms are much…

Why Is Chris Pratt’s Mario’s Butt So Flat In The New Movie Poster?

Image: Illumination Animation Just when you thought Hollywood couldn’t stoop any lower, they’ve come for the handsome cheeks of Mario in the upcoming Chris Pratt-led Super Mario Bros. As the first trailer edges ever closer, fans have been given a look at Mario in the form of a poster: but there’s one very, very big issue around his character design: he has almost no backside to speak of. As pointed out by a discerning art critic on Twitter, considering how much running, jumping, squatting, and hardcore…

Mario’s Time Machine isn’t the best use of time – Destructoid

The time-space continuum Education is extremely important, but I hated school. I was never very good at it. I’m not very book smart. Then again, I’m not very street smart. What I’m getting at is: I’m not very smart in general, so school wasn’t right for me. Self-deprecation aside, I think it’s just the academic system I don’t like. I don’t care about grades. How do you even make a child care about aptitude scores? Do you know what children do care about? Defeating Bowser. So in the early ‘90s, Nintendo loosened its grip…

LEGO Super Mario’s latest release is a giant Bowser that shoots fireballs

The King of the Koopas gets a LEGO makeover Making LEGO sets that are designed with adults in mind is one of the best decisions the company ever made, because LEGO has released some really awesome, complex builds over the past few years. Just in their Nintendo collaboration alone, which debuted in 2020, they gave us the buildable NES and the “?” block with different levels from Super Mario 64 on the inside. LEGO’s newest release is another banger in the Mario-themed line: a giant Bowser that shoots fireballs. I have to…

LEGO Mario’s massive Bowser kit lets the Koopa King shoot fireballs

Source: LEGO Group / Nintendo LEGO Mario building kits have been popular ever since they first showed up on store shelves in 2020. We've gotten a LEGO Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach who all have computers inside and displays that make symbols appear on their chest and allow them to make different expressions. But now, we're finally getting The Mighty Bowser building kit to join our heroes. Unlike the other three figures, Bowser does not have a display anywhere on his body. However, he does offer buttons on his…
